Terms & Conditions

Last updated: July 24, 2026

These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of Tallypool, a shared budgeting app for households, friends, and teams ("Tallypool"). Please read them carefully. They're written in plain language, but they are a binding agreement between you and Tallypool.

1. Acceptance of these terms

By creating an account, downloading, or using Tallypool, you agree to these Terms and to Tallypool's Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

2. Description of the service

Tallypool lets you and the people you invite create shared budgets, record income and expenses, categorize transactions, split costs, and track balances together. The app is a record-keeping and organizational tool. It is not a bank, payment processor, money transmitter, or provider of financial, tax, or legal advice, and it does not move money between people.

3. Accounts & eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country, if higher) to use Tallypool. You're responsible for providing accurate account information, for keeping your login credentials secure, and for all activity that happens under your account. Notify Tallypool promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use Tallypool for any unlawful, fraudulent, or harmful purpose;
  • upload content that is illegal, infringing, or violates the rights or privacy of others;
  • invite people to a shared budget without a reasonable basis to believe they want to participate;
  • attempt to breach, probe, or circumvent the security of the app, its encryption, or its infrastructure;
  • access the service through automated means or reverse-engineer, scrape, or overload it; or
  • interfere with other users' ability to use the service.

5. Your content & data ownership

You retain ownership of the data you enter into Tallypool - budgets, transactions, notes, and related content. You grant Tallypool a limited license to store, process, and transmit that data solely to operate the service for you and the members you share budgets with. You're responsible for the accuracy and legality of the data you contribute. How Tallypool protects that data is described in Tallypool's Privacy Policy.

6. Shared budgets & member responsibilities

Shared budgets are collaborative by nature. When you join or invite others to a budget, the members of that budget can view and contribute to its budgets, categories, transactions, and balances. You are responsible for who you invite and for the information you choose to share. Splits, balances, and "who owes whom" figures are informational calculations to help you organize repayments - they are not legally binding debts, invoices, or guarantees, and settling up between members happens outside the app. Please resolve financial disagreements directly with the other members of your budget.

7. Disclaimers & warranties

Tallypool is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, and non-infringement. Tallypool does not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that calculations are suitable for accounting, tax, or legal purposes. You are responsible for verifying any figures you rely on.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Tallypool and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the service. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the greatest extent permitted by applicable law.

9. Termination

You may stop using Tallypool and delete your account at any time - see Tallypool's Account & Data Deletion page. Tallypool may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms or use the service in a way that could harm other users or the service itself. On termination, your right to use the app ends; certain provisions (such as disclaimers and limitation of liability) survive.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Tallypool's operator is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any disputes will be handled in the courts of that jurisdiction, unless applicable local consumer-protection law provides otherwise.

11. Changes to these terms

Tallypool may update these Terms from time to time. When Tallypool makes material changes, it will revise the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continued use of Tallypool after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
